Portein The Nutritional Supplement You Need

Muscles are made up of 2 things: protein and water. Protein builds muscle. Period.
One of the biggest mistakes I made when I first started to work out was taking in tons of carbohydrates and calories rather then increasing my protein intake. Protein is the nutritional supplement you need to take if you want to grow muscle.

You know I was one of the victims of those Mega Mass 4000 Weight Gainer Shakes. I cleverly renamed them "Mega Gas" shakes... Tons of calories and tons of carbohydrates but virtually no protein nutritional supplement and that's a big no-no.

Here's the problem with this kind of approach to increasing your muscle mass. Essentially all you're doing is increasing your mass, er uh the politically correct way of saying FAT basically. Most people I know who workout don't want anymore fat. And you're building FAT when you dramatically increase your calorie or carb intake in the hopes of building muscle. Again what you need is a protein nutritional supplement.

Most are just looking to build some lean muscle mass. If that's your goal, then you should focus on increasing your protein intake and sure you'll need to increase your carb intake but just enough to fuel your workouts and no more.

I usually limit my big carb meals to breakfast, before I workout and post-workout as well. These are all times in the day when your body will readily absorb carbs so I naturally indulge a little bit. And don't forget to wash it down with a prorein nutritional supplement.
