Eating Carbohydrates Before you go to Bed is a Bad Idea

Eating carbohydrates before you go to bed (think pasta, potatoes, rice or bread and if you’re Mexican like me tortillas!) is a great way to sabotage your workout efforts and acquire a spare tire in no time flat!

If you’re looking to stay lean (and who isn’t) stay away from carbohydrates at least a half an hour before you go to bed.

Not only will eating carbohydrates before you go to bed increase the amount of fat your body stores during the night but it can also interfere with your body’s production of growth hormone.

Do yourself a favor and consume a light protein snack before you hit the sack… cottage cheese, a casein protein shake or if you’re really in the mood for something solid maybe a chicken breast. Whatever you choose just make sure it’s a smaller-then-usual portion.

And no matter what… avoid eating carbohydrates before you go to bed if you want to avoid adding a spare tire.
